Alexander Harrison

Alex is a Fellow of RINA, a Chartered Marine Engineer with IMarEST and member of the IUMI Offshore Energy Committee.

He started his career as a Naval Architect/Ship Surveyor performing condition assessment and renewal specification surveys on behalf of Class and Owners. He latterly joined LOC (now ABL) in London in 1996 as Junior consultant where his focus shifted to the Energy sector. He has since undertaken professional consulting and management roles at country, regional and global levels, all having primary focus on the marine aspects of energy projects. His current role is as Group Managing Director – Energy Services, responsible for ABL’s global energy industry consulting and Marine Warranty Services.

Alex has provided professional advice and warranty services on over 60 energy construction and decommissioning projects, in some 20 countries, and his marine operational expertise includes; loadouts, dry transportation, wet tows, GBS and jacket installations, topsides float-overs, deep-water SURF installations, large diameter pipelay, DP operations, FPSO and semi-sub construction, modularised LNG projects, wind farm installations and extensive decommissioning operations.

He has also acted for insurance interests for the technical management of large salvage and wreck removal contracts, and for lawyers with experts opinion in oil and gas project matters.
