Mr. Hüseyin Yücel has a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and works as Head of Section at the Centre for Stabilisation, Royal Danish Defence College. He has coordinated and implemented several projects under the framework of the Danish Peace and Stabilisation Fund, including engagements in Afghanistan/Pakistan and the Gulf of Guinea. These projects utilize the Facilitated Dialogue concept that seek to strengthen the communication and coordination between various stakeholders, which is necessary to counter piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
He has also conducted research on maritime security cooperation. In his latest article Sovereignty and Transnational Cooperation in the Gulf of Guinea (2021, sjms.nu) he examines cooperation in the regional Yaoundé Architecture and identifies ways to strengthen it.
