Mr. Kim was a captain of a merchant ship at Sanko Line at age 31. After an unexpected accident at sea followed by a long-lasted international trial, he decided to become an expert in maritime law. He has earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. law at Korea University. His recent career includes IMO’s Legal Committee member, President of the Korea Maritime Law Association and Chief Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. He now teaches maritime law at Korea University. He takes pride in his early career. His business card has both ‘professor’ and ‘captain’ written on it.
